A Community Chorus

Among the many ways the Nodaway Chorale is described, primary is a “Community Chorus.”  Since our beginning, the Chorale has done a good job on the “chorus” — the musical task — supporting our Mission Statement.

In 2022, the Chorale Board of Trustees and musical leadership felt it was time to increase focus on the “community” aspect.  “Community” includes building the skills and relationships of our singers.  But that also most certainly would include engaging with the cities and towns, the “communities,” in which we live.

That same year the Chorale launched a National Anthem Community Service Initiative, being prepared to sing the National Anthem for any civic group that invites us.  We have sung at multiple annual Veterans’ Day observances at the Nodaway County Senior Center, Oak Pointe of Maryville, and performed at Missouri’s Great Northwest Winefest in Mound City.

Volunteers from the Chorale continue to make several appearances at community and organization events throughout the year including holiday performances at county senior care centers, caroling at the Downtown Yuletide Fest Parade and at Mosaic Medical Center-Maryville, special presentations for Northwest Missouri State University events and civic organizations, and more.

We are hopeful that our “community” engagement will continue to grow.  Spread the word that Nodaway Chorale is ready to Sing and Serve!
